Family Matters...

This past week was fun filled with a visit from Krister and his family Sandy and Kira.  It was Krister's first visit to the farm.  They really enjoyed themselves (at least that is what they told us) and I know we enjoyed having them.  We had fun filled days with tootling around the farm and a day visit to DC.  Also, the river and our neighbors pool was a hit with warm days.

Chapin really adored having Kira around.  Both sets of family were completely amazed at just how well the two played together.  No major upsets and a ton of fun was had.  Kira really liked going into the garden and picking broccoli, snap peas and blueberries.  Plus, it was the kids daily chore to go gather the chicken eggs.

Dinner on the porch most nights worked out just fine.

Popsicles after the river...Priceless!

We really moved around DC on the bikes.  The kids didn't even fight in the bike trailer!  Even made it to the Natural History Museum and the Library of Congress...Missed the Air and Space for they closed at 5:30.  Then Krister and Sandy treated us to dinner.  We didn't get home till 9:30 and has some pooped out people on your hands.
Plus, a trip to Kent Farm is not complete without a good ole hike on the "creek trail" and a picnic supper up at Bears Den.

We will miss you guys.  Chapin has been terribly sad all day, but I keep reminding him we will see you and Grandma in one and a half weeks!  Till then...

Visiting Abua and Dowies - Memorial Day Weekend

The now annual (?) trip to CT over Memorial Day weekend, as you can see, was accompanied by great weather.  Chapin got to play with Star, while I took Chapins' new bike out for a test ride on McCrea La.  Then it was time to sail!  Pulling together existing equipment and a little help from Craigslist allowed two Sunfish sailboats to play on Long Island Sound from the Darien beaches.  Three fun days of sailing were had and we were joined by Eric and Crystelle Hagerman for the Sunday sail.  The Darien Memorial Day parade was a big hit for Chapin, while Mom & Dad (Bill & Jeanne) reminisced about the days when their boys (that's me and Will) marched down the Post Road with everyone else.  Somehow, I gathered that sitting in the shade by the side of the road suits them just fine now!  The final pic is from our graduation feast at Fuji's restaurant - the Hibachi Chef always entertaining and the food excellent.
